About ads for social impact

Everything you need to know about particpating in Microsoft Advertising ads for social impact.

Ads for social impact is a pilot program offered by Microsoft Advertising. Eligible Microsoft nonprofit partners can qualify for support for nonprofit organizations in raising awareness about their missions, attracting new donors and volunteers, and advancing their mission outcomes.

Program details

Participants receive monthly grants on Microsoft's advertising platform to build awareness, attract new supporters, and drive mission success. All spending on Microsoft sites and select traffic is fully covered by this grant. If you prefer not to spend your own funds, we recommend updating the ad distribution for your ad groups to Microsoft sites and select traffic. Grants partially cover your ad spend on Audience campaigns.

How we calculate grant amountsexpando image

Monthly grant amounts are determined by your spending and investment behavior from the previous two months of use*. We review your monthly spend by looking at the last day of the previous month through the second to last day of the current month (e.g., May 31, 2023 – June 29, 2023 with spend starting from midnight of last day of previous month to 11:59PM of second-to-last day of current month). Please note that currency conversion will occur once the grant is applied (using current exchange rates).

Grant amount Grant amount based on additional spend
Starting grant: $1,000

There are no spend minimums required to maintain this grant value; however, you can spend beyond this grant within the same account. Any excess spending is charged to the associated payment method. The starting grant amounts to $1,000 USD. If your organization spends at least $1,800 USD from the last day of the prior month to the second-to-last day of the current month, including all grants and coupons for two consecutive months, Microsoft Advertising will elevate the monthly grant to $3,000 USD in the following month. All spend beyond the initial grant of $1,000 USD is automatically applied to the account's payment method, less any additional credits that may be applied to your account during this time.

Increased grant: $3,000

There is a $1,800 spend minimum including all grants and coupons to qualify for the increased grant. Organizations with a monthly grant of $3,000 USD must maintain a spend of at least $3,800, including all grants and coupons, between the last day of the prior month and the second-to-last day of the current month*. All spending beyond the initial grant of $3,000 USD is automatically applied to the account's payment method, less any additional credits that may be applied to your account during this time.

*Note: if your organization does not meet the $3,800 USD total spend requirement during the first month post-upgrade (between the last day of the prior month and the second-to-last day of the current month), or if your organization successfully spends $3,800 that first month but fails to spend $3,800 any two consecutive months following that first successful month, your account will be downgraded to the starting grant amount.
