Search insights help you understand the search interest that is relevant to your campaigns at the account level. With these insights, you can respond to changes in search demand and identify opportunities to catch up with search trends.

Note

Search insights are only available for search campaigns. If you selected audience campaigns, you will not be able to see search insights.

How search insights work

There are two types of search insights:

  • Account optimization: Top trends related to your existing keywords.
  • New opportunities: Top trends that present new opportunities of growth for your business.
When viewing search insights, you can compare trends in the Week over week, Month over month, or Year over year time periods. You can also select a specific location you want to see search insights for or see the trends for All locations (default).

Reading search insights

The search insights graph displays your changes in search interest and performance over your selected time period for your keywords. These changes are shown by location (or all locations). There are three performance metrics you can choose from:

  • Clicks: The change in both percentage and number of ad clicks.
  • Impressions: The change in both percentage and number of ad impressions.
  • Spend: The change in both percentage and amount in dollars of your spend.
Note

You can change your performance metrics globally for account optimization, or by keyword for Account optimization or New opportunities.

On the right side of the search insights page, you can see the top searches related to your keywords.

  1. Select View details to see the top recommendations for your keywords.
  2. Select View next to a specific recommendation to review that recommendation and apply it if desired.

You can also see the trending search terms related to your keywords.

  • Select the Your clicks column (default) and choose Impressions or Spend.
