I forgot my user name or password

Forgot your user name or password? It happens. Here are the steps to get you up and running again.

If you forget the user name or email address that you use to sign in to Microsoft Advertising, you can request that we send you an email with that information. If you forget your password, you’ll need to reset it. For security reasons, we can’t send your password in an email.

Requesting your user name or email address

  1. Go to the Microsoft Advertising sign-in page.
  2. Select Forgot your user name?
  3. Next to I forgot my select User name.
  4. Next to Account email address, enter the email address that you use as your contact email address for Microsoft Advertising (the email address that we use to send you information about Microsoft Advertising).
  5. Select Submit.

You’ll receive an email from Microsoft Advertising with the user names and email addresses associated with the contact email address you provided us. Note that these user names and email addresses might be used to sign in to different customer accounts and, therefore, require different passwords.

If you don’t receive the email, check your junk mail folder.

Resetting your password

The steps to reset a forgotten password depend on how you sign in to Microsoft Advertising:

  • Using an email address (a Microsoft account). You’re required to use an email address for Microsoft Advertising access. Learn more about Signing in with a work account
  • Using a Microsoft Advertising user name. Only customers who signed up before October 2013 and haven’t transitioned to using an email address can sign in with a Microsoft Advertising user name.

Then this is how to reset your password

  1. Go to the Microsoft Advertising sign-in page.
  2. Select Forgot your user name?
  3. Next to I forgot my select Password.
  4. Next to Account email address, enter the email address that you use as your contact email address for Microsoft Advertising (the email address that we use to send you information about Microsoft Advertising.)
  5. Enter the answer to your security question.
  6. Select Submit.
    Microsoft Advertising will send you an email with instructions on resetting your password.
  7. Follow the instructions in the email to finish resetting your password.
    If you don't receive the email, check your junk mail folder.
If you sign in with an email address (a Microsoft account)

Then this is how to reset your password

  1. Go to the Microsoft Advertising sign-in page.
  2. Enter your email address and select Next to be directed to the Microsoft account sign-in page.
  3. Select Can't access your account?
  4. Enter your email address, enter the characters you see on the page, and then select Next.
    Microsoft will send you a security code via email or text.
  5. Enter the security code and select Next.
  6. Enter your new password, re-enter your new password, and then select Next.
