Managing ad group targeting settings
Learn how to manage targeting settings at the ad group level and about what you need to keep in mind if your ad group level settings are managed indepedently of your campatign settings.
Not everyone has this feature yet. If you don’t, don’t worry. It’s coming soon.
You can now customize targeting settings for location, ad schedule, and device at the ad group level. This gives you more flexibility in targeting, but keep in mind that you will need to manage these targeting settings independently of your campaign settings.
How to manage targeting settings at the ad group level
By default, ad groups inherit their campaigns' location, ad schedule, and device targeting settings. You can customize an ad group's setting in two different places in Microsoft Advertising:
From the ad group's Settings tab:
From the Ad Groups tab, click the name of the ad group.
Click the Settings tab.
By Location, Ad schedule, or Device, click the Use my campaign settings toggle.
- Change the targeting setting as you see fit.
From the All Campaigns overall Settings tab:
From the Campaigns page, click the Settings tab.
Click Locations, Ad schedule, or Devices.
Change the View to Ad group level.
- From here, you can add new targets, remove existing targets, and set custom bid adjustments for an individual ad group or a number of ad groups.
If you customize a targeting setting at the ad group level, you will need to manage it independently of your campaign level settings. Subsequent changes (such as bid adjustments) to the campaign level target criteria will not affect ad group level settings.
