Copy and paste campaigns, ad groups, ads, and keywords

Learn how to copy campaigns, ad groups, ads, and keywords.

Save time by copying and pasting campaigns, ad groups, ads, and keywords instead of creating new ones from scratch.

Note

Copying and pasting is supported for all campaign types except smart campaigns (not everyone has this feature yet).

Copy and paste campaigns

The campaign(s) you copy will be a duplicate of the original, with the same ad group structure, ads, keywords, audience associations, settings, etc.

The maximum number of campaigns you can copy at once is 200.

Currently, you can only copy and paste campaigns across one account.

  1. From the collapsible menu on the left, select All campaigns.

If you're using the new Microsoft Advertising navigation, from the navigation menu on the left, hover over Campaigns and select Campaigns.

  2. Select the checkbox to the left of each campaign you want to copy.
  3. In the blue bar, select Edit > Copy.

Note: You can also use the keyboard shortcut (ctrl+c for Windows PC, or command+c for Mac) instead of Edit > Copy.

  4. Deselect the campaign(s).
  5. Above the table, select Paste.

Note: You can also use the keyboard shortcut (ctrl+v for Windows PC, or command+v for Mac) instead of Paste.

  6. Select Pause new campaigns after pasting if you don't want your copied campaigns to start running immediately. You can also select Adjust start and end dates to change either the start or end dates of the pasted campaigns.
  7. Select Paste.

Copy and paste ad groups

If you copy an ad group from one campaign type and paste it into another campaign type, the ad group will be posted without ads or keywords, but will retain the settings of the copied ad group.

Copy and paste ads

While it is possible to not make any changes to ads after copying and pasting, identical ads are likely to compete with each other. We recommend altering your ads after pasting to keep them from competing with the original ad(s) in your existing campaigns and ad groups.

If you're using the new Microsoft Advertising navigation, from the navigation menu on the left, hover over Campaigns and select Ads & extensions > Ads.

  2. Select the checkbox to the left of each ad you want to copy.
  3. In the blue bar, select Edit > Copy.

  4. From the collapsible menu on the left, select All campaigns > Ad groups > Ad groups.

If you're using the new Microsoft Advertising navigation, from the navigation menu on the left, hover over Campaigns and select Ad groups > Ad groups.

  5. Select the name of the ad group you want to copy these ads into and then select Ads & extensions.
  6. Above the table, select Paste.

Note: You can also use the keyboard shortcut (ctrl+v for Windows PC, or command+v for Mac) instead of Paste.

  7. Select Pause new ads after pasting if you don't want your copied ads to start running immediately.
  8. Select Paste.

Copy and paste keywords

While it is possible to not make any changes to keywords after copying and pasting, identical keywords are likely to compete with each other. We recommend altering your keywords after pasting to keep them from competing with the original keyword(s) in your existing campaigns and ad groups.

If you're using the new Microsoft Advertising navigation, from the navigation menu on the left, hover over Campaigns and select Keywords > Keywords.

Note: You can also use the keyboard shortcut (ctrl+c for Windows PC, or command+c for Mac) instead of Edit > Copy.

  4. From the collapsible menu on the left, select All campaigns > Ad groups > Ad groups.

If you're using the new Microsoft Advertising navigation, from the navigation menu on the left, hover over Campaigns and select Ad groups > Ad groups.

  6. Above the table, select Paste.

Note: You can also use the keyboard shortcut (ctrl+v for Windows PC, or command+v for Mac) instead of Paste.
